Dubai, November 22 nd 2004
Raqmiyat's move into the GCC market is already starting to pay dividends for the UAE-based software developer and systems integrator, according to one senior official.
As part of this strategy, the company is exhibiting at Middle East Financial Technology Exhibition & Conference (MEFTEC), being held in Bahrain from November 22 - 24, for the first time. This is the first time Raqmiyat has exhibited outside the UAE.
Tapas Roy, COO of Raqmiyat, indicated that GCC growth would be a major focus of 2005, thanks to a number of in-house software products - especially in the banking and finance sector - that he would be taking to the GCC market.
In addition Odyssey's private banking and portfolio management software is now available throughout the region, thanks to a distribution deal signed by Raqmiyat earlier this year.
Roy said: "The financial sector is absolutely key to our business plan: the industry is changing day by day as financial institutions turn to technology to drive business strategies."
"Increasing regulation, globalisation, deregulation, increasingly sophisticated customers and growing competition all dictate that we look to information technology to allow us to be flexible and quick to react to market changes."
At GITEX, the last major trade show where Raqmiyat was an exhibitor, 70 per cent of all new business leads came from the GCC and beyond, with Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia showing particular interest in Raqmiyat's portfolio.
Roy explained: "This year we have been focused on growth - through developing new partnerships, new products and new markets."
"We are starting to see this tactic pay dividends now. Trade exhibitions will continue to play a major part in our marketing strategy around the region as we showcase our products in Arabia."
The UAE-based Raqmiyat is a leading systems integration and IT services company, providing world-class business and technology solutions through partnerships with international firms.
